Grappling Storm Gareth – Scotland Transerv

Grappling Storm Gareth

As Storm Gareth sweeps in across South West Scotland, the Met Office has issued a Yellow Weather Warning for High Winds from 12 noon on Tuesday until 3pm on Wednesday.

Scotland TranServ is increasing its efforts to ensure the region’s trunk road network continues to flow as the 66mph winds batter the country.

Our landscaping operatives are fully prepared with chainsaws and hand saws that can cut through windblown trees potentially affecting our trunk roads and footways. Meanwhile, our road sweepers will be deployed wherever and whenever required, with additional sweepers also on standby.

Paul Lynch, Scotland TranServ’s Network Manager said:

“Our Operations Team will be focussing their efforts on any potential clear-up works required over the next 24 hours, and keeping a continuous monitor on trees which might cause an issue to drivers or pedestrians. Our Incident Response Department is working around the clock to monitor the trunk roads and motorways. Our TRISS and ISU teams will be on hand to help stranded motorists and support the emergency services in their efforts.”

Drivers are advised to allow some extra time for their journeys during this time and to check or @trafficscotland on Twitter for live updates.
