M74 Northbound Junction 8 OVERNIGHT resurfacing
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland will carry out the OVERNIGHT resurfacing of the M74 Northbound at Junction 8 over three consecutive evenings from Friday 20th July 2018.
Works will be completed and traffic management lifted by 6am on the morning of Monday 23rd July.
The short programme of works will allow for the resurfacing of nearly 700metres of the motorway which provides access to the communities of Larkhall, Ashgill and other parts of the Clyde Valley.
Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s Principal Roads Design Engineer said:
“The M74 is a major trunk route into the busy Central Belt of Scotland and that’s why we are doing everything possible to minimise the impact of this important programme of work. It will be necessary to implement full overnight closures of the M74 Northbound at this point, with short diversion routes in place.
“We have been working with local authorities and key stakeholders in the area in the scheduling of this £140k programme of work. Every effort is being made to keep disruption to an absolute minimum while works are carried out.”
In order to complete these works as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to implement the following traffic management systems:
- Friday night – Full OVERNIGHT road closures of the M74 Northbound between Junction 10 and Junction 8
- Saturday & Sunday night – Diverted off the M74 Northbound at Junction 8 off slip and back on at the Junction 8 on slip
