M8 Blackstone Mains bridge joints installation
As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road maintenance programme, Scotland TranServ will carry out the overnight installation of bridge joints on the M8 Westbound between Junction 29 and 30.
The short programme of works will be carried out over two separate overnights, on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th February.
Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s Principal Roads Design Engineer said:
“This short programme of works involves the milling out, removal and replacement of asphaltic bridge joints. We have worked in consultation with Police Scotland, local authorities and key stakeholders to schedule the works for a period of minimal disruption to local communities and the travelling public.”
In order to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible it will be necessary to close the Westbound carriageway overnight:
- 8pm Tuesday 13th to 6am Wednesday 14th February
- 8pm Wednesday 14th to 6am Thursday 15th February
Motorists, particularly those heading for Glasgow Airport are asked to make additional time for their journey. Eastbound traffic will be unaffected, however the diversion route for Westbound traffic is as follows:
- M8 onto the A726 at St James Interchange Junction 29
- Join A898 at Spectacles Roundabout
- Return to the M8 at Junction 30
