M8 Junction 22 Barrier Replacement
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out the replacement of 1.4km of motorway barrier on the M8 Westbound at Junction 22.
In order to complete this programme of works as quickly and safely as possible it will be necessary to implement overnight lane closures from Sunday to Thursday each night throughout the 12 week programme, which starts on Monday 13th of August.
Laura Gray, Scotland TranServ’s Deputy Planned Maintenance Manager said:
“This £900,000 project is part of Scotland TranServ’s £6.2 million programme of barrier replacements planned through the end of the year, right into 2019. These barriers are reaching the end of their maintainable life, and therefore need to be completely replaced.
We have worked on a number of such projects with our specialist contractor, Highway Barrier Solutions over the last couple of years, already delivering nearly £6 million of investment. Altogether we have replaced approximately 26 kilometres of M8 barrier as part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road management programme.
On each evening of work, from Sunday through to Thursday, lane closures will be implemented from 8pm depending on traffic flows, and removed by 6am the following morning. Motorists are asked to be aware of these works taking place adjacent to live traffic lanes.
