Royal Infirmary Footbridge Refurbishment
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland will carry out a five week programme of refurbishment on the Royal Infirmary Footbridge at Junction 15 on the M8, adjacent to the Townhead Interchange.
In order to complete this programme of waterproofing, bridge joint work and resurfacing as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to close the crossing to the public throughout this period.
Andrew Orr, Scotland TranServ’s Senior Structures Technician said:
“The initial phase of this programme, the replacement of bridge bearings, was completed on schedule in December last year. We have been working with the local authority and key stakeholders such as the hospital to carefully schedule this secondary phase. Emergency services will not be affected throughout the duration of these works.
“It will be necessary to close the footbridge to the public so that we can carry out this project as safely as possible. A pedestrian diversion route will be in place throughout the scheme.”
Works will be carried out during the following period:
- From 7.00am on Monday 25th February for a period of approximately 5 weeks
Pedestrians accessing the Royal Infirmary are asked to allow some extra time for their journey. Please click on the button below to view pedestrian diversion map:
