Supporting St Andrews Hospice this Christmas
Every January Scotland TranServ employees are asked to nominate charities for Dress Down Friday fundraising.
The team at TranServ had a very personal reason for picking St Andrews Hospice in Airdrie. Receptionist Jillian Johnstone was cared for there in the final days of her battle against ovarian cancer.
Jillian, who is a fondly remembered member of the Polmadie team, was just 33 when she passed away, leaving behind two little girls.
Tom Watson, Scotland TranServ’s Correspondence Officer said:
“There are a great many employees who were here in the first few years of the contract, and many of us, like Jillian, were transferred across from our predecessors. We have warm memories of her, and when the company presented the opportunity to nominate a charity we had no hesitation in choosing St Andrew’s Hospice, who provided such amazing care to Jillian in her final few months. We are delighted to support them and intend working with them on other volunteering opportunities in the year ahead.”
Jillian made a lasting impact on the team, and a bench outside Scotland TranServ’s office is dedicated to her memory.
Trainee Quantity Surveyor, Thomas Morgan added:
“Jillian was my travel companion in my early days with the company, and she helped me adjust to the world of work. I could never repay her for all the support she gave me in those first few years, and I and a number of my colleagues miss her greatly. This is just a small way of giving something back, and to say thank you to Jillian and her family for the wonderful person she was.”
