A737 Monkcastle to Dalgarven

As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road management programme, Scotland TranServ will resurface 1km of the A737 between Monkcastle and Dalgarven, south of Dalry.

In order to deliver this project as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to implement a weekend closure of the trunk road from Friday the 20th until Monday the 23rd of September.

Dayle Gillespie, Scotland TranServ’s lead designer on the project said:

“It was necessary for us to reschedule this project from an earlier date, where unforeseen ground conditions were discovered. We have been working alongside local authorities, emergency services and key stakeholders to carefully plan these resurfacing works, avoiding the busy summer holidays and September weekend.”

It will be necessary to implement the closure of the trunk carriageway during the following times:

  • 8pm on Friday the 20th until 6am on Monday the 23rd of September

Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s Principal Roads Design Engineer added:

“Scotland TranServ has been working to improve the road surface of the A737, with a number of projects having taken place in recent months. On behalf of Transport Scotland, nearly a million pounds of road surface improvements has been delivered over the summer months, and follows hot on the heels of the resurfacing of 1.2km of the trunk road between the Clerksbridge Toll and Roadhead Roundabouts.”

Local diversions will be in place throughout this short programme of work, with drivers advised to allow extra time for their journeys. Live trunk road updates are available on trafficscotland.org, or by following @trafficscotland on Twitter.
