A75 Benfield Resurfacing
As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road management programme, Scotland TranServ will carry out road surface improvements to the A75 at Benfield, west of Newton Stewart.
To deliver this £120k project as quickly and safely as possible, Scotland TranServ will implement a daytime convoy system between 8am and 5pm each day, allowing traffic to continue to flow on the busy trunk road.
Omar Sarwar, Scotland TranServ’s Assistant Network Design Engineer said:
“In order to deliver road surface improvements to this kilometre long stretch of carriageway, we have been in consultation with the local authority, emergency services and key stakeholders to carefully plan the programme of works, reducing the impact on commuters and businesses using the A75 every day.
“These essential works are part of Transport Scotland’s wider investment for the A75. During November and December, Scotland TranServ has delivered £900k of investment on their behalf. A number of additional projects are already being planned for the new year. We would like to thank drivers for their patience while these essential resurfacing works are completed.”
In order to complete this short improvement programme as quickly and safely as possible, the convoy system will be in operation between the following dates:
- Monday 2nd until Thursday 5th of December
Drivers, particularly those heading for ferry terminals, are asked to allow some additional time for their journeys. Live trunk road updates are available by visiting trafficscotland.org or by following @trafficscotland on Twitter.
