A75 Deanside Farm, West of Dumfries

Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is delivering 1.2km of surface patching to the A75 at Deanside Farm, west of Dumfries.

In order to deliver this essential resurfacing project as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to implement an overnight convoy traffic management system. Scotland TranServ will follow strict physical distancing protocols in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance. In association with Transport Scotland, we have identified this resurfacing project as an essential maintenance scheme, vital to maintaining the integrity and safety of the trunk road network.

Michael Pagan, Scotland TranServ’s Network Area Manager for Dumfries and Galloway said:

“This is an important section of the trunk road network, and as such is used by emergency services, freight, retail and delivery traffic as part of their essential working. It is vital that we resurface this area in order to maintain road safety. Traffic volumes currently remain lower than normal, and the programme can therefore be carried out safely and with reduced disruption to motorists.

“Many new working practices have been implemented across our own workforce and those of our contractors and suppliers as we work towards the future delivery of our Network Maintenance and other programmes. Thorough risk assessments have been carried out as we take a lead in the delivery of trunk road maintenance.

“Scotland TranServ and Transport Scotland would like to take this opportunity to thank Dumfries and Galloway drivers for making only essential journeys over the last few months, and for playing their part in protecting the country’s key workers.”

To complete these works as quickly and safely as possible, Scotland TranServ will implement a convoy traffic management system during the following times:

  • 7pm on Monday 20th until 6am on Tuesday 21st July
  • 7pm on Tuesday 21st until 6am on Wednesday 22nd July
  • 7pm on Wednesday 22nd until 6am on Thursday 23rd July

Special arrangements will be made for emergency service vehicles during this resurfacing programme. Drivers are advised to allow some additional time for their journeys. Motorists can find live trunk road information by visiting trafficscotland.org or by following @trafficscotland on Twitter.
