A76 Enterkinfoot Connected
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, has completed weekend tie-in work connecting the newly constructed realigned carriageway to the existing A76.
Traffic is, for the first time, using the newly laid trunk road section. Completion work, which includes the drainage and safety barrier across the existing carriageway, and other aspects of the project, can only be carried out once traffic is able to utilise the additional lanes of the new carriageway.
Charles Macklin, Scotland TranServ’s Principal Engineer said:
“Firstly, we would like to thank the local community, commuters and businesses for their continued patience, it is very much appreciated as we deliver this scheme. Further to this weekend’s works, the project will still require temporary lane closures, to allow for the installation of drainage and barriers across the line of the existing A76 carriageway.
“Scotland TranServ and Transport Scotland have continued to work closely with the local community and key stakeholders, and in particular in close liaison with Buccleuch Estates. We extend our gratitude to them for their support throughout the planning and continued delivery of these works.”
Traffic management will continue to switch between the old and new carriageway, utilising the additional lanes, until such times as all these works are complete. The programme remains on schedule for completion in December.
