A76 Enterkinfoot: Connecting the realigned road
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is planning works to connect the realigned A76 trunk road to the existing carriageway at Enterkinfoot.
In order to complete this essential stage of the 30 week programme as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary for Scotland TranServ to close the trunk road from 19:00 on Friday 1st until 06:00 on Monday the 4th of November.
Charles Macklin, Scotland TranServ’s Principal Engineer added:
“We would like to thank local residents, commuters and businesses for their patience throughout the construction period. Our team, including a number of local suppliers, is delivering the programme of work ahead of programme, removing vegetation, mapping out the carriageway, installing drainage laying the new surfacing and installing white lines, signs and barriers. It is now necessary to connect the new carriageway to the existing trunk road.
“Closing the road over the weekend will allow us to complete these works as safely and efficiently as possible. After this key stage in the project there will still be works requiring temporary lane closures, such as installing the drainage and barrier across the line of the existing carriageway. We would appreciate your continued patience.”
During the weekend closure, Scotland TranServ’s Dumfries team will also carry out essential routine resurfacing and repair works to the north of Enterkinfoot – these works were programmed to take advantage of the weekend closure, in order to minimise disruption to road users and the community.
Mr Macklin continued:
“Scotland TranServ and Transport Scotland have continued to work closely with the local community and key stakeholders throughout the progress of the various stages required to deliver this scheme. We have kept the community updated with photographs and video of the construction as it has evolved. We also met with the community at the recent Galloway Country Fair, providing information and contact details. We have, in particular worked in close liaison with Buccleuch Estates, and we would like to extend our gratitude to them for their support throughout the planning and delivery of these works.”
To deliver this essential stage of the programme it will be necessary to close the A76 trunk road during the following times:
- 7pm on Friday the 1st until 6am on Monday the 4th of November
Diversions will be in place throughout this time, with drivers advised to allow plenty of additional time for their journeys. Special access arrangements have been made for emergency service vehicles, however no additional arrangements will be made for windfarm traffic.
