A77 Grassyards to Milton Resurfacing
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will resurface 1.3km of the A77 between Grassyards and Milton near Kilmarnock.
In order to complete this programme of work with as little disruption to commuters and businesses as possible, it will be necessary to implement a series of overnight lane and road closures.
David Montgomery, Scotland TranServ’s Assistant Roads Design Engineer said:
“We have been working in consultation with local authorities, emergency services and key local stakeholders to carefully plan this important programme of works. It is important that we resurface this stretch of carriageway while minimising the impact of our works on the local community. As such, we must also consider the potential impact on number of local events, and schedule our works to avoid disruption.
“This £400k project will see the resurfacing of more than a kilometre of this busy trunk road, which connects Kilmarnock, Ayr and surrounding towns to Glasgow and the central belt. It is also a route for holiday makers and tourists using Prestwick Airport. That has been a further consideration in the scheduling of this programme.”
To resurface the carriageway as quickly as possible, and to protect the safety of our workers and the travelling public, it will be necessary to close this section of the trunk road during the following times:
- 8pm each night to 6am each morning from Monday 3rd to Saturday 15th June
Local diversions will be in place throughout. Drivers are advised to check live trunk road updates on trafficscotland.org, or to follow @trafficscotland on Twitter.
