A77 Southbound St Quivox Resurfacing
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will resurface 0.6km of the A77 Southbound at St Quivox between Prestwick and Ayr.
In order to deliver this short programme as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to implement a series of overnight closures of the trunk road from Wednesday the 5th until Sunday the 9th of August.
The project will follow strict physical distancing protocols in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance. In association with Transport Scotland, we have identified these projects as essential maintenance schemes, vital to maintaining the integrity and safety of the trunk road network.
Gordon Coppard, Scotland TranServ’s Network Area Manager said:
“This is an important section of the trunk road network, and as such is used by emergency services, freight, retail and delivery traffic as part of their essential working. It is vital that we complete these works in order to maintain road safety. Works will be carried out overnight in order to reduce the impact on communities and businesses as they recover at this time.
“We have implemented many new working practices across our own workforce and those of our contractors and suppliers as we work towards the future delivery of our maintenance programmes. Thorough risk assessments have been carried out as we take a lead in the delivery of trunk road maintenance.
“Scotland TranServ and Transport Scotland would like to take this opportunity to thank drivers for making only essential journeys over the last few months, and for playing their part in protecting the country’s key workers.”
The works will be delivered under a series of overnight closures of the trunk road in this area. Resurfacing will be delivered during the following times:
- 8pm on Wednesday the 5th until 6am on Thursday the 6th of August
- 8pm on Thursday the 6th until 6am on Friday the 7th of August
- 8pm on Friday the 7th until 6am on Saturday the 8th of August
- 8pm on Saturday the 8th until 6am on Sunday the 9th of August
Local diversions will be in place throughout this short series of overnight closures. Special arrangements will be made for emergency service vehicles. No additional measures are being made for windfarm traffic or abnormal loads.
Drivers are advised to allow some extra time for their journeys. Live trunk road information can be found by visiting trafficscotland.org or by following @trafficscotland on Twitter.
