A78 Barrier Replacement Programme
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will shortly be replacing approximately 300m of trunk road barrier on the A78 at Eglinton Interchange, between Kilwinning and Irvine.
In order to deliver this £350k project as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to implement a nearside lane closure of the A78 in this area. It will only be installed once traffic volumes are sufficiently low, between 8pm and 6am each night, from Sunday to Thursday.
Laura Gray, Scotland TranServ’s Planned Maintenance Manager said:
“This section of A78 nearside verge is reaching the end of its maintainable life. Already we have delivered a series of such projects along some of Scotland’s busiest trunk roads and motorways, whilst keeping disruption to a minimum.
“Scotland TranServ has consulted the local authority, emergency services and key stakeholders in the careful planning of this essential programme. Working through the night and from Sunday to Thursday only, our specialist contractor will deliver the replacement barrier as quickly and efficiently as possible, with the safety of our workers and motorists of the utmost importance. We would like to take this opportunity to thank drivers for their patience while this project is delivered.”
The project will begin on Monday the 25th of November and last for four weeks. Further replacement works are forecast following the successful completion of this current programme.
