Emergency Repairs Whistleberry Toll
01 May 2014
In order to reduce disruption to peak evening traffic, Scotland TranServ will require a total southbound closure of the A725 East Kilbride Expressway from 12 noon to around 3pm.
The emergency repairs are necessary following an accident late last night, which caused damage to a bridge parapet. The carriageway has been reduced to a single lane already this morning.
Working on behalf of Transport Scotland, we will require to close this section of the A725 in order to carry out this repair as quickly and safely as possible.
Traffic will be diverted from the roundabout to Bellshill Road, through Hamilton and eventually join the Expressway again at High Blantyre.
Malcolm Shanks, Scotland TranServ’s Operations Manager said:
“This emergency work is essential, and full closure of the A725 southbound at Whistleberry Toll roundabout is necessary in order to carry out the work as quickly and as safely as possible, minimising the potential disruption for peak time travellers this evening. We would like to thank drivers for their patience and advise people to plan their journeys appropriately where possible.”
The planned diversion route will take motorists from:
- Whistleberry Toll to Bellshill Road,
- along Bothwell Road to Alamada Street,
- on to Burnbank Road
- re-joining the A725 at High Blantyre Road.
