Erskine Bridge Bearings Work Update

Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is replacing bearings on the Erskine Bridge South Abutment

Works were delayed by Yellow Weather Warnings for High Winds in recent weeks. This weekend’s programme is also weather dependent.

In order to deliver these works as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to close the bridge for four hours overnight, between midnight on Friday 28th and 4am on Saturday 29th.

Outwith this, traffic is restricted to a single lane in each direction, from 8pm on Friday until 6am on Monday morning.

Peter McCann, Scotland TranServ’s Major Bridges Manager said:

“We are aware of the impact of the necessary overnight bridge closure, and the implementation of weekend lane closures. These aren’t measures we take lightly, and that is why it has taken many months for the project to be designed and consulted upon. While we can plan for many aspects of weather in the timing of our works, we cannot plan for the high winds and recent storms such as Ciara and Dennis. “

Please allow plenty of extra time for your journey. Live trunk road information is available by following @trafficscotland on Twitter or by visiting trafficscotland.org.

Scotland TranServ would like to take this opportunity to thank drivers and the local community for their patience while these essential works are carried out.
