Essential Cyclic Maintenance Activities
In collaboration with Transport Scotland, Scotland TranServ has identified an essential programme of cyclic maintenance activities for the trunk road network surrounding Glasgow.
As a matter of public safety, Scotland TranServ will implement a programme of Cyclic Maintenance activities, beginning on the M8, M74, M77 and A8 trunk roads from Monday 1st of June.
Alan Gilmour, Scotland TranServ’s Network and Operations General Manager said:
“The health and safety of our workers and the travelling public is of paramount importance to Scotland TranServ. As such, we have implemented many new working practices across our own workforce and those of our contractors and suppliers as we work towards the ‘new norm’ in the delivery of our Cyclic Maintenance and other programmes. Thorough risk assessments have been carried out as we take a lead in the delivery of trunk road maintenance.
“It is our belief, and that of Transport Scotland that the removal of roadside litter and the cutting back of grass and other vegetation is essential in maintaining the safety of our trunk road network. Under strict social distancing protocols, we will progressively return to this service in the weeks ahead.
“Traffic volumes currently remain low, in line with government guidance, and disruption will therefore be minimised. We would like to take this opportunity to thank drivers for making only essential journeys over the last couple of months, and for continuing to play their part in protecting the country’s key workers.”
Cyclic maintenance activities will be delivered under the following programme:
- Daytime Monday 1st to Thursday 4th of June - M77 Junction 1 to Junction 5
- Daytime Friday 5th of June - A8 Woodhall
- Overnights Monday 1st of June - M74 Junction 1 to Junction 3 slip roads, north and south bound.
- Overnights Tuesday 2nd June - M8 Kingston Bridge
- From Wednesday 3rd to Friday 5th of June - Assisting dayshift team with M77 Junction 1 to Junction 5 closures.
