Essential Cyclic Maintenance Activities Update
In collaboration with Transport Scotland, Scotland TranServ has identified an essential programme of cyclic maintenance activities for the trunk road network across South West Scotland.
Scotland TranServ and Transport Scotland recognise that the removal of intrusive roadside litter and the cutting back of grass and other vegetation is essential in maintaining the safety of our trunk road network. Under strict physical distancing protocols, we will progressively return to this service in the weeks ahead.
Andrew Adam, Scotland TranServ’s Operations Manager said:
“As a matter of public safety, Scotland TranServ will implement a programme of Cyclic Maintenance activities, beginning on the M8, M74, M77 and A8 trunk roads, as we work towards the ‘new norm’ in the delivery of our Cyclic Maintenance and other programmes.
“Traffic volumes remain low, in line with government guidance, and disruption will therefore be minimised. We would like to take this opportunity to thank drivers for making only essential journeys over the last couple of months, and for continuing to play their part in protecting the country’s key workers.
“Thorough risk assessments have been carried out as we take a lead in the delivery of trunk road maintenance. The health and safety of our workers and the travelling public is of paramount importance to Scotland TranServ. As such, we have implemented many new working practices across our own workforce and those of our contractors and suppliers.”
Cyclic maintenance activities will this week be delivered under the following programme:
- Monday 8th to Wednesday 10th daytime - A725 high and medium cuts, A77/A78 Pennyburn, Meadowhead and Whitletts Roundabouts
- Thursday 11th daytime – A737 high and medium cuts
- Thursday 11th and Friday 12th daytime – A77 Holmston wide areas
- Monday 8th to Friday 12th June overnight – A77 from Whitletts Roundabout to Dutch House Roundabout
