Half Million Pounds Resurfacing Projects for Justenlees to Ladyfield

Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland will carry out the resurfacing of 1.4 km of the A75 between Justenlees and Ladyfield, outside Annan. Road closures will be required to carry out these works.

In combining the two resurfacing schemes, Justenlees to Burnside (£266k) and Burnside to Ladyfield (£237k), Scotland TranServ will maximise the efficiency of the road closures.

Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s Principal Road Design Engineer said:

“We’re working hard to reduce disruption to the local community, businesses and the travelling public. This is a busy road, connecting Annan with towns and villages to the west of Dumfries and Galloway; and similarly Cairnryan with the M74 and the North of England.

“We have been working in consultation with the local authority, emergency services and key stakeholders to programme these works, limiting disruption where possible and ensuring that we increase the efficiency of necessary closures. Working across the weekend and with a handful of overnight working and/or closures will reduce the impact on freight and commuter traffic. This short resurfacing programme is designed to deliver long-term benefits to this busy route.”

In order to complete these works as quickly and safely as possible it will be necessary to implement a weekend closure of the A75 trunk road and a short programme of overnight working. The A75 will therefore be closed during the following times:

  • Weekend Closure - 7pm on Friday 15th to 6am on Monday 18th March
  • 5 No. Overnight Closures - 7pm to 6am, from Monday 18th to Saturday 23rd March

Drivers are advised to allow some extra time for their journey. Live trunk road information is available on trafficscotland.org, or by following @trafficscotland on Twitter.
