Graduate Environmental Specialist
Role:
This is a role with variety as part of the Environment and Sustainability team at Scotland TranServ. Our team provides environmental support throughout the business by assessing maintenance projects, ensuring we comply with relevant legislation and monitoring performance on site.
In addition to our supportive role, we have developed innovative environmental projects as part of our drive to continually improve our performance and enhance the habitats of the trunk road. Over the last year this has included research into Glasgow’s water voles, monitoring changes in road traffic noise investigating coastal otter road mortality.
Accountabilities:
Accountable to the Environmental and Sustainability Manager with supervision and direction as you settle into your new role.
Day to day duties will include:
- Providing environmental expertise to support the design, operation or maintenance of the Scottish Trunk Road network
- Managing environmental project deliverable’s to programme
- Undertaking consultation with environmental regulators and obtaining approvals where required
- Identifying and developing proposals doe environmental enhancements, projects and innovations
- Monitoring the environmental performance of depots and at work sites
- Assisting where required with duties to support the team and business
Personal Qualities and Experience:
The following qualities/experience are essential:
- Bachelors/ Masters degree or equivalent within an environmental discipline
- Full UK driving liscence
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- Member of an environmental professional organisation (e.g. IEMA, CIEEM)
- Qualification or interest in noise measurement e.g Certificate of Competence Environmental Noise Measurement
- Experience in environmental management and assessment
- Experience in environmental liscencing e.g. CAR
- Use of GIS software
- CSCS Card holder
