
M8 Charing Cross Tunnel Essential Electrical Repairs
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland will be carrying out essential electrical repairs on the M8 Eastbound at Charing Cross tunnel.
In order to keep disruption to an absolute minimum, and to protect the health and safety of our workers and the travelling public, it will be necessary to implement total overnight closures of the Eastbound carriageway during this time.
Aled Davies, Scotland TranServ’s Principal Lighting Engineer said:
“We are planning these works for a total of six overnights to reduce disruption to commuters and business traffic. Scotland TranServ has worked in consultation with the local authority, emergency services and key stakeholders. As such, special access will be retained for emergency service vehicles throughout these works.”
In order to complete this short programme as quickly and safely as possible, they will be carried out under overnight closures of the M8 Eastbound on the following evenings:
- 10pm Mon 8th to 6am Tues 9th April
- 10pm Tues 9th to 6am Wed 10th April
- 10pm Wed 10th to 6am Thurs 11th April
- 10pm Thurs 11th to 6am Fri 12th April
- 10pm Fri 12th to 6am Sat 13th April
- 10pm Sat 13th to 6am Sun 14th April
