As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road management programme, Scotland TranServ will resurface approximately 1.4km of the M80 Northbound from Junction 1 to 2, between Blochairn and Royston.

In order to complete this £295k programme of work as quickly and safely as possible, with minimal disruption, it will be necessary to implement a series of overnight closures of the northbound carriageway between Monday the 23^rd and Friday the 27^th of September.

Omar Sarwar, Scotland TranServ’s Assistant Network Design Engineer said:

“This is one of the busiest motorway stretches in Scotland, and we’ll be working through the night in order to reduce the impact on the thousands of commuters and businesses using this key route into Lanarkshire, East Dunbartonshire and Stirlingshire every day.

“Because of the scale of the resurfacing project, the work will be undertaken through a programme of five overnight closures, which will be implemented when the volume of vehicles is sufficiently low.

“Scotland TranServ has been working in consultation with a number of local authorities, emergency services and key stakeholders to carefully schedule these works. The project has been planned, where possible, to avoid impacting drivers returning from major events.”

To protect the safety of our workers and the travelling public, it will be necessary to complete this programme of works under a series of overnight closures, with traffic management implemented during the following times:

• 10pm on Monday 23^rd unto 6am on Tuesday 24^th September
• 10pm on Tuesday 24^th until 6am on Wednesday 25^th September
• 10pm on Wednesday 25^th until 6am on Thursday 26^th September
• 10pm on Thursday 26^th until 6am on Friday 27^th September
• 10pm on Friday 27^th until 6am on Saturday 28^th September

Drivers are asked to allow some additional time for their journeys, with a short diversion route in place during these overnight closures. Specialist access is being provided for emergency services vehicles.
