Resurfacing M8 Eastbound Between Jct 29 & 28
As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road maintenance programme, Scotland TranServ will undertake the resurfacing of the M8 Eastbound between Junction 29 and Junction 28 this weekend.
It will be necessary to operate a WEEKEND contraflow system from 8pm Friday 20th to 6am Monday 23rd October, in order to complete the work as safely and efficiently as possible.
Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s Principal Roads Design Engineer said:
“This is an important resurfacing project to address issues with surface defects and structural cracking over a kilometre of the motorway, near Glasgow Airport. We have worked with the airport, Police Scotland, Local Authorities and other key stakeholders to schedule the works to cause minimal disruption.
“We will operate a contraflow system to help keep weekend traffic flowing. This is an important project that will deliver long-term improvements in the quality of the road surface in this busy stretch of the M8, to the benefit of commuters, business traffic and tourists alike.”
Our traffic flow modelling contractor is forecasting potential delays of up to 40 minutes. We would therefore ask drivers to plan their journeys with this in mind and if possible avoid the area altogether or consider the use of public transport. We will also implement Bluetooth live journey-time monitoring throughout the scheme
For live traffic information we would advise motorists to follow @trafficscotland on Twitter, or to check trafficscotland.org before they head out.
