M74 Northbound Junction 2A Onslip Resurfacing
As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road maintenance programme, Scotland TranServ is resurfacing the M74 Northbound Junction 2A onslip at Tollcross.
In order to deliver this 250m stretch of trunk road, it will be necessary to implement a series of overnight closures between the evening of Tuesday the 4th and the early morning of Thursday the 6th of August.
The project will follow strict physical distancing protocols in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance. In association with Transport Scotland, we have identified these projects as essential maintenance schemes, vital to maintaining the integrity and safety of the trunk road network.
Brendan O’Sullivan, Scotland TranServ’s Network Area Manager said:
“This is an important section of the trunk road network, and as such is used by emergency services, freight, retail and delivery traffic as part of their essential working. It is vital that we complete these works in order to maintain road safety. Works will be carried out overnight in order to reduce the impact on communities and businesses as they recover at this time.
“We have implemented many new working practices across our own workforce and those of our contractors and suppliers as we work towards the future delivery of our maintenance programmes. Thorough risk assessments have been carried out as we take a lead in the delivery of trunk road maintenance.
“Scotland TranServ and Transport Scotland would like to take this opportunity to thank drivers for making only essential journeys over the last few months, and for playing their part in protecting the country’s key workers.”
To complete these works as quickly and safely as possible, we will need to close the M74 Northbound onslip during the following times:
- 8pm on Tuesday 4th until 6am on Wednesday 5th of August
- 8pm on Wednesday 5th until 6am on Thursday 6th of August
Local diversions will be in place throughout this short programme of overnight work. Special arrangements will be made for emergency service vehicles, No additional arrangements will be made for windfarm traffic or abnormal loads.
Drivers are advised to allow some additional time for their journeys. Live trunk road information can be found by visiting trafficscotland.org or by following @trafficscotland on Twitter.
