Storm Caroline holds strength

5.00pm Thursday 7th Dec

Snow and ice are set to affect South West Scotland through the peak drive time period as you make your way home tonight.

Motorists in East Ayrshire and South Lanarkshire in particular are asked to check @trafficscotland on Twitter and the new my.trafficscotland.org website for the latest updates.

As we progress into the evening drivers in Inverclyde, Glasgow, Ayrshire and Dumfries & Galloway could also be affected by snow and ice.

Overnight Scotland TranServ will have 32 gritters out on South West Scotland’s trunk road network.

High winds are easing on the Erskine Bridge, restrictions for high-sided vehicles have been removed. Drive are however still advised to take caution.

The Met Office has issued yellow “be aware” warnings for snow, ice and wind on Friday and Saturday across many parts of the UK.
