£900,000 safety barrier works

Road users are being urged to slow down as £900,000 worth of investment works get underway on the central reserve safety barrier of the M8, between Junctions 12 and 15, from Sunday 2 August 2015.

Scotland TranServ, which manages and maintains south west Scotland’s roads will carry out the works, which are expected to last for up to eight weeks. A reduced speed limit of 40mph will be enforced during overnight working hours to ensure the safety of operatives and road users alike. A series of lane closures will also be in operation between 8.00pm and 6.00am each night.

Gordon Wilson, contract director for Scotland TranServ said:

“The safety of our operatives and road users is of the utmost priority therefore it is vital that we enforce a reduced speed limit of 40mph.

“Carrying out the repairs overnight will also ensure that traffic flows are at their lightest; ensuring minimum delays.”

Temporary signs will be in place on the approach to the works to inform road users of the new speed limit. Real time traffic information can be found at www.trafficscotland.org or by following @Traffic Scotland on Twitter.
