Area Network Manager

Location: Ayr
Role:
To manage the network asset within a Trunk Road Management and Maintenance Contract.
Accountabilities:
Technical:
- Set the professional standards for all activities within the local area
- Review, checj and audit to confirm rigorous approach to standards, regulations and policies
- Prepare resource programmes
- Attend programme management meetings
- Contribute to Annual Report
- Contribute to network management plans (winter, disruption risk and incident response)
- Undertake principal investigations as required to any part of the business
People and Communications:
- Drive development of staff through personal development plans, coaching and mentoring
- Performance manage personnel under your direct control
- Manage personnel procedures within your local area
- Senior manager Tours of depots and sites
Customers:
- Represent local area at client meetings
- Represent JV at public meetings and industry events
Growth and Performance:
- Set challenging performance targets
- Work with executive team to identify new work opportunities
- Implement strategies to develop and improve the business
Health and Safety:
- Ensure procedures contribute to the safety and welfare of colleague, customers and public
Principal Outcomes:
- Compliance with IMS procedures
- Delivery of KPIs
- Condition of network kept under review
- Asset management system kept up to date
- Delegated statutory functions properly discharged
- Works planned and coordinated to reduce impact on customers
- Budget delivery planned and monitored

Personal Qualities and Experience:
The following qualities/experience are essential:
- SVQ in appropriate engineering discipline or incorporated member of ICE, Institution off Structural Engineers, IHT or the like
- Full UK driving licence
- Leading a multi-disciplined asset management team
- Close relationship with clients and local authorities
- Roads maintenance and management asset systems
- Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the business and client
- Ability to manage performance of individuals
- Programming ability
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- Broad experience of managing roads networks
- Winter service planning
- New Roads and Streetworks Act, Roads (Scotland) Act and the like
