M74 Northbound Junction 10 Offslip OVERNIGHT Resurfacing

Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland will carry out the OVERNIGHT resurfacing of the M74 Northbound offslip at Junction 10 from 8pm to 6am on Thursday 28th, Friday 29th and Saturday 30th September.

Works will be completed at 6am on the morning of Sunday 1st of October.

In order to complete this £90k project to address potholes and other surface issues on the sliproad, it will be necessary to close a section of the motorway northbound between Lesmahagow and Kirkmuirhill each night. Local diversions will be in place.

Brendan O’Sullivan, Scotland TranServ’s Network Area Manager said:

“We’re working with Police Scotland, South Lanarkshire Council and key local stakeholders to schedule this project to cause minimal disruption on commuters and businesses using this busy artery. We’re working overnight to ensure that we impact as few motorists as possible, and working outwith peak holiday periods to reduce the impact on tourists.

“This is a very important road connecting the south with Lanarkshire, Glasgow and the central belt. We want the road and its many sliproads connecting communities across the region, to be in the best condition possible and we are therefore keeping up our steady investment along our sections of the M74.”

Traffic management will be implemented from 8pm each night and lifted at 6am the following morning. Diversions will therefore include:

  • Thursday 28th September - northbound off slip along with the nearside lane of the main carriageway of the M74 motorway at Junction 10 will be closed. Slip road traffic will be signed to continue north leaving the motorway at Junction 8 to return on the local B7078 road
  • Friday 29th and Saturday 30th September - total closure of the northbound main carriageway of the M74 motorway at Junction 12 with diversion on the B7078 to re-join the M74 at Junction 10

On behalf of Transport Scotland, across the region Scotland TranServ is delivering an important programme of work to improve South West Scotland’s trunk road infrastructure and support the economic growth and development of our communities.
