Essential inspections on the A898 Erskine Bridge are set to continue on Saturday 31 October 2015.
Scotland TranServ’s engineers, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out detailed inspections to the two above deck towers which provide cable support to the Bridge.
A CCTV camera located at the top of the south tower will also be replaced with a newer, more efficient system.
Safety is of the utmost importance and to protect road users and operatives alike the work must be carried out under a series of offside lane closures from 7.00am until 6.00pm on the following dates:
Contract director for Scotland TranServ, Gordon Wilson said:
“A series of detailed inspections must be carried out to the towers which support Erskine Bridge to ensure that it is maintained to industry standards.
“We have programmed this work over the weekend when traffic flows are lighter however road users should plan ahead to avoid delays.”
Heavy and light recovery vehicles will be stationed at the north and south of the bridge throughout the works.

Local residents are set to benefit from over £430k of essential maintenance which will get underway on the A77 south of Ardwell on Tuesday 3 November 2015.
Scotland TranServ, operating on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out the drainage works and repairs, which will support the existing road surface near to Ardwell Bay, south of Girvan. Safety is of the utmost importance, and to protect both the workforce and road users, the work will take place under a series of overnight closures.
The closures will consist of three week-day night time works that will take place on Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 November between 8pm to 6am.
Once these drainage works are completed, carriageway reconstruction will take place under a weekend closure, from Friday 6 November at 8pm, continuously until Monday 9 November at 6am, when the A77 will reopen to traffic.
The final carriageway construction phase will be carried out during a weekend closure which will start on Friday 13 November at 8pm and finish on Monday 16 November at 6am.
During the road closures, a signed diversion will be in place diverting motorists along the A714 to Newton Stewart before taking the A75 back towards Stranraer. The route is for both northbound and southbound movements.

Road users should leave plenty of time for their journeys, particularly in accessing the ferry port at Cairnryan.
Advanced warning signs will also be in place on the approach to the works to inform road users that roadworks are taking place.”
Over £68,000 of essential road maintenance resurfacing work will get underway on the A77 south of Bankfield on 26 October 2015, benefiting local residents and road users for years to come.
Scotland TranServ, operating on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out the resurfacing works in two overnight road closures, to repair defects to the existing road surface.
To carry out these works safely, there will be a total closure of the A77 from 8.00pm on Monday 26 October until 6.00am on Tuesday 27 October and then again from 8.00pm on Tuesday 27 October until 6.00am on Wednesday 28 October. A signed diversion route will be available as described below.

Road users are set to benefit from £100k of improvement works on the north and southbound lanes of the A76 Bargower Rail Bridge located south of Crossroads roundabout adjacent to Cessnock Water.
Scotland TranServ on behalf of Transport Scotland will carry out the refurbishment of the bridge deck including; waterproofing, joint replacement and concrete repairs in five stages over the coming weeks. We are doing everything we can to minimise disruption. The safety of operatives and road users is of the utmost importance therefore works will be carried out under a series of convoy working and lane closures controlled by traffic lights.

The second phase of a £6m rolling programme to refurbish the overhead gantries on the M8 motorway continues on Friday 16 October 2015.
The investment from Transport Scotland will see four gantries on the M8, between Junctions 10 and 15, being upgraded to bring them up to date with modern day standards.
Scotland TranServ, which maintains almost 200 sign gantries on south west Scotland’s motorways and trunk roads will carry out the work to the structures, which provide a lane management facility and keep motorists up to date with real time traffic information.
The refurbished structures will provide a number of long term benefits energy savings and the increasing demands of routine maintenance.
Scotland TranServ’s contract director, Gordon Wilson said:
“The first phase of this project was a success and we hope to emulate this during the second round of refurbishments.
“Some of the existing gantries have been in place for over 30 years and this programme will result in significant long term benefits to thousands of motorists using the M8 each day.
“Not only has the signage been improved but also the innovative use of LED lighting will achieve 70% in energy savings per gantry each year ensuring we play a pivotal role in helping Transport Scotland meet its carbon reduction targets for 2020.”

Local communities are set to benefit from over £260k of essential maintenance to the A76 at Eliock Wood, beginning on Friday 2 October 2015.
Scotland TranServ on behalf of Transport Scotland will carry out resurfacing works over one weekend to improve the quality of the road surface for years to come.
The safety of operatives and road users is of the utmost importance therefore works will be carried out under a total closure of the A76 between Mennock and Enterkinfoot, in both directions, from 7.00pm on Friday 2 until 6.00am on Monday 5 October.

Traffic A76 Northbound shall exit the A76 at Drumlanrig, along A702 to M74 Junction13 Abington Services roundabouts, exit to B7078 and turn left onto A70 (Millbank), continue through Muirkirk to junction of B743. Vehicles over 15 feet high – turn right to B743 and travel via Sorn and B713 (Newton Street) Catrine to rejoin A76. All other traffic continues through Cumnock to rejoin A76 at A70 junction.
Southbound:
Traffic A76 Southbound shall exit A76 at A70 (Cumnock) turn left to A70, continue towards M74 Junction12, turn right to B7078 to the roundabouts at Abington Services M74 Junction13, at 1st roundabout take 2nd exit to next roundabout take 2nd exit to A702 and follow to A76 at Carronbridge to rejoin A76. Vehicles over 15 feet high – Commence on A76 at B713 (Newton Street) through Catrine and B743 to the junction with A70 – turn left to A70 and follow the above southbound diversion route.
