Update on M8, J18 barrier strike

Following a barrier strike at 5.56am, on Thursday 22 September at Junction 18 of the M8, a full closure has been implemented at the onslip to Charing Cross.

To ensure the safety of motorists almost 90m of specialist barrier system will be installed later today with all traffic management restrictions removed when the barrier is safe and fit for purpose.

Due to an expected high volume of traffic on trunk roads during peak times, due to the holiday weekend, we would advise road users to plan their journeys by visiting Traffic Scotland’s website or following @TrafficScotland on Twitter. Road users should also be aware that local roads may also be busier.
