M74 JUNCTION 10 TO 8 NORTHBOUND
Essential repairs to the M74 Lochead between Junction 10 and 8, are being carried-out by Scotland TranServ, as part of Transport Scotland’s ongoing maintenance programme.
The works will be carried out overnight and will require a total closure of the northbound carriageway on Friday 30 January.
Gordon Wilson, Contract Director, Scotland TranServ said:
“These essential repairs will help improve the road surface of the M74 Lochead between Junction 10 and 8 and benefit those using the route for years to come.
“We are making every effort to minimise disruption to road users therefore our teams will be on site and working overnight when traffic flows are lighter.”

Onslip traffic follow main diversion.
Advanced warning signs will be positioned on the approach to the works to inform road users that the works are taking place.

Scotland TranServ appoints new Contract Director

Scotland TranServ, a Mouchel / Balfour Beatty Joint Venture which manages and maintains south west Scotland’s motorways and trunk roads, has appointed Gordon Wilson as Contract Director.
Gordon has significant experience of the Scottish roads maintenance market and brings over 30 years’ experience of roads operations the in both the public and private sectors having previously spearheaded roads operations for Lothian Regional Council, West Lothian Council and North Lanarkshire Council as well as holding Director level posts in the roads consultancy market with Grotmij and most recently Mouchel.
As part of his appointment, Gordon has filmed a video which outlines his vision for the contract for the next three years and beyond. This can be viewed here.
Over the past year, as Business Unit Director for Mouchel, Gordon had played a pivotal role in the contract on the Joint Venture Board with a particular focus on operational activity.
Scotland TranServ, which operates on behalf of its client Transport Scotland, manages and maintains over 600km of motorways and trunk roads across 22 routes in south west Scotland. Almost 270 staff now operate from a head office in Polmadie, Glasgow and five further depots across Ayr and Dumfries and Galloway.

Gordon holds a Master of Business Administration from Napier University Business School. He became an Incorporated Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers in 1989, is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
