Over £190,000 will be invested in resurfacing works on the northbound carriageway of the M74 between Junctions 10 and 8 commencing on Friday 29 July 2016.
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out essential repairs to the road surface over one weekend, when traffic flows are lighter, to help minimise disruption.
To carry out the work safely, a contraflow system will be in operation between Junctions 10 and 8 on the southbound carriageway. Overnight closures of the M74 southbound will also be required between 8.00pm and 6.00am on Friday 29 and Sunday 31July to allow for the installation and removal of traffic management.
A signed diversion will re-route southbound traffic to leave the M74 motorway at Junction 8 on to the B7078 before re-joining the southbound carriageway of the M74 motorway at Junction 10.
Scotland TranServ’s Operating Company Representative, Andy Fraser said:
“This resurfacing scheme will ensure the long term resilience of this stretch of the M74, which is travelled by over 30,000 motorists each day.
“We have made every effort to programme the works out with peak times and overnight when traffic flows are considerably lighter, therefore reducing disruption to road users.”
Motorists should plan ahead and leave plenty of time for their journeys. They can keep up to date with real time traffic information by visiting www.trafficscotland.co.uk or following @Traffic Scotland on Twitter.

Gatehouse of Fleet Bypass
A four week programme to resurface the A75 from Sandgreen Junction to Cardoness Castle using environmentally friendly techniques will commence on Monday 25 July 2016.
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland will carry out the works, which will involve resurfacing over 2km of the route. Drainage, barriers and signage will also be renewed as part of the project. During the scheme preparation engineers carried out full consultation with local authorities, community councils and the emergency services.
The sustainable ‘Crack and Seat’ method will be used, which uses the existing foundations to rebuild the road surface. This not only reduces the need for heavy goods movements to deliver raw materials but will also reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill by over 3,000 tonnes. The environmentally friendly process is also significantly quicker than traditional road reconstruction methods, reducing the impact of our works on road users.
In order to carry out the works safely a convoy system will be in operation from Monday 25 July until Monday 29 August. There are no planned works during the Gatehouse of Fleet Gala event.
Andy Fraser, operating company representative, Scotland TranServ said:
“This is a significant programme of work which will bring benefits to road users and local communities across Dumfries and Galloway by resurfacing this stretch of road, which has now reached the end of its operational lifespan.
“Through our consultation process, we have carefully planned our works to reduce disruption during an important local event and would thank road users and the local community for their patience whilst we carry out this vital resurfacing project.”
By using environmentally friendly methods Scotland TranServ will support the Scottish Government’s target of a Low Carbon Scotland and fulfil our role in helping to achieve a reduction in carbon emissions of 42% by 2020; therefore supporting sustainable growth in the communities in which we work.
Road users can access real time traffic information by visiting www.TrafficScotland.org or following @trafficscotland on Twitter.
Advanced warning signs will also be in place on the approach to the works to inform motorists that roadworks are taking place.

Scotland TranServ, which maintains almost 1,800 structures on south west Scotland’s motorways and trunk roads will carry out the inspection works on behalf of Transport Scotland to monitor the health of assets.
To keep road users and inspectors safe a full closure of the M8 westbound from Junction 13 to Junction 16 will be in place from 10.00pm to 06.00am each night from Tuesday 12 July until Saturday 16 July. There will also be a closure of the eastbound M8 from Junction 18 to Junction 15 on Friday 22 July from 10.00pm to 06.00am to allow for further inspections. Diversion routes will be in place.
Scotland TranServ’s operating company representative, Andy Fraser said:
“We have considered alternative methods and timings for delivering these inspections, but at this particular location they can only be safely carried out under a full road closure.
“As a result, the works have been programmed to be carried out overnight, when traffic flows are lighter, however we would advise motorists to plan ahead and leave plenty of time for their journeys.”

The traffic traveling from the South to Beith along B706 Barrmill Road will be diverted at Burnhouse from the Junction with A736 Lochlibo Road along A736 to Lugton, then left on the Junction with B777 Main Road – Wardrop Street to join A737 at the junction with Wardrop Street.
Road users are set to benefit from £86K of essential road repairs to ensure the longevity of the road surface on the A77 at Auchendrane and north of Kirkoswald.
Scotland TranServ, operating on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out resurfacing work on two projects to repair defects to the existing road surface:

More than £400k is being invested on the A76 in East Ayrshire this month.
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will begin the programme of maintenance with a scheme at Bridgehouse Bargower. The focus will then move to Crossroads Roundabout where resurfacing will be carried-out.

Road users across Inverclyde are set to benefit from resurfacing works to improve the eastbound A8 at East Hamilton Street beginning Monday 11 July 2016.
Scotland TranServ will carry out the resurfacing work, on behalf of Transport Scotland from 8.00pm until 6.00am each night from Monday 11 July until Wednesday 13 July 2016.
Alternative methods were considered to deliver these works at this location, with the safest option being closure of the westbound carriageway between the western roundabout at Port Glasgow and Ratho Street. To minimise the impact on journey time reliability, this closure will take place overnight.
Eastbound traffic will travel on the westbound carriageway between McDougall Street and Bogston lane and during this period there will be no access to or from the A8 trunk road from Bogston lane, Gibshill Road, Pottery Street and Sinclair Street. A local diversion will be in place.
