Heavy rain washes out Whirlies project

06 June 2014

Due to the forecast of extreme weather this weekend, the decision has been taken to cancel the planned resurfacing project at the Whirlies Roundabout in East Kilbride.

It is hoped the project can be rescheduled for another time over the next few weeks.

The work had been specifically scheduled in order to reduce disruption to commuter traffic and it is hoped that we can continue to keep any inconvenience down when the works are rescheduled.

Russell Rennie, Scotland TranServ’s Contract Director said:

“Scotland TranServ is playing its part to support the long-term economic growth and development of South West Scotland. As one of the region’s major towns, it is still important to us to carry out this work and deliver an improved gateway to East Kilbride. Across the region, in this busiest of tourism seasons, through our trunk road improvement programme we are delivering important first impressions for the thousands of tourists who will visit Scotland this year, as well as tangible long-term benefits for millions of local drivers.”
