Scotland TranServ on behalf of Transport Scotland is reminding drivers of the planned centre line white lining works which will take place on the Erskine Bridge this weekend (Sat 7th & Sun 8th June ).
The required works and associated Traffic Management are:
• Weekends Sat/Sun 7/8 & 14/15 June, 2014, (with potential for 21/22 June work dependant on weather). North and southbound carriageway centre line white lining works over the length of the bridge. For safety to the workforce and travelling public, continuous contraflow traffic management is necessary, from late Fri night to early Monday morning on these weekends. Delays of 45-60 minutes are possible.
The final phases of improvements on the Erskine Bridge is being carried out during off peak times in order to reduce any further disruption to local drivers. All the safety barrier replacement works on the bridge were successfully completed, with both north and southbound traffic back running normally at peak times.
On behalf of Transport Scotland, these final phase works are being carried out by Principal Contractor Highway Barrier Solutions (HBS) and are being supervised by Scotland TranServ.
Further off peak work is also being carried out during the week:
• Off-peak Mon to Fri (0930 to 1530) work continuing until the 26th June. Replacement of the existing low-level southbound nearside safety barrier at the north-east corner of the bridge, between the bridge north abutment and the traffic lights. The traffic lights are being re-utilised to filter traffic locally into a single southbound offside lane. Disruption to the travelling public is expected to be minimal during these off-peak periods.
• Off-peak replacement of existing low-level north and southbound central reserve/cross over safety barriers at the north end of the bridge. This will involve localised fast lane closures in each direction, re-utilising the traffic lights for the southbound works and A898/A82 northbound slip road closures for northbound works. Disruption to the travelling public is expected to be minimal during off-peak periods.
The recently completed Vehicle Safety Barrier Replacement project saw over 5km of one of the most innovative trunk road barriers in the country being installed as part of a raft of measures which now make the Erskine Bridge one of the safest such crossings in Scotland.
