A737 essential maintenance works

Road users are set to benefit from £160k of essential maintenance on the A737 at Fernside Cottage between Beith and Dalry commencing on Friday 7 August.

Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland will carry out resurfacing works over one weekend to ensure the longevity of this road surface, which is used by 5,000 motorists each day.

The works, which will be carried out from Friday 7 to Monday 10 August, will operate under a total closure of the A737 at this location in both directions.

“This essential maintenance scheme is vital to ensuring we prolong the lifespan of the road surface benefiting road users for years to come.

“We have done everything we can to programme works over one weekend, when traffic flows are lighter, however we would advise motorists to plan ahead and leave plenty of time for their journeys.”

All southbound traffic should leave Manrahead roundabout via B777 to Kilbirnie and northbound from Townend Street via B780 to Kilbirnie.

A75 resurfacing works

 

 

Scotland TranServ continue positive strides in maintaining Dumfries and Galloway’s network with over £270,000 worth of resurfacing works on the A75 in the Eastriggs area between Irvington and Peatworks commencing Friday 7 August 2015.

The project will add to the £5m that has already been invested by Transport Scotland across Dumfries and Galloway’s trunk road network over the last six months.

Scotland TranServ will carry out the work over one weekend between Friday 7 August and Monday 10 August 2015.

To keep road users and roadworkers safe, a total closure will be implemented in both directions between Irvington and Peatworks. The road will be closed from 7.00pm on Friday evening and reopen at 6.00am on Monday morning.

“Dumfries and Galloway is the gateway to Scotland and is the first stop for thousands of tourists heading to the south west region.

“We are doing everything we can to minimise disruption by carrying these works out over one weekend however we would advise motorists to plan ahead and leave plenty of time for their journeys.”

A local diversion will be in place throughout the works. Westbound traffic shall exit the A75 at Gretna at the junction with the B721 and continue on the B721 passing through Rigg, Eastriggs, Dornock and at Annan East roundabout continue onto B6357 and taking right onto slip road to rejoin the A75 westbound.

Eastbound traffic shall exit at B6357, continue to Roundabout junction with B721, along B721 passing through Dornock, Eastriggs, Rigg and left onto A721 at Gretna West and right to rejoin A75.

£900,000 safety barrier works

Road users are being urged to slow down as £900,000 worth of investment works get underway on the central reserve safety barrier of the M8, between Junctions 12 and 15, from Sunday 2 August 2015.

Scotland TranServ, which manages and maintains south west Scotland’s roads will carry out the works, which are expected to last for up to eight weeks. A reduced speed limit of 40mph will be enforced during overnight working hours to ensure the safety of operatives and road users alike. A series of lane closures will also be in operation between 8.00pm and 6.00am each night.

Gordon Wilson, contract director for Scotland TranServ said:

“The safety of our operatives and road users is of the utmost priority therefore it is vital that we enforce a reduced speed limit of 40mph.

“Carrying out the repairs overnight will also ensure that traffic flows are at their lightest; ensuring minimum delays.”

A725 CROSSBASKETS TO WHIRLIES ROUNDABOUT RESURFACING

Almost £230,000 will be invested on the A725 in July when Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland carryout resurfacing works.

The works on the southbound A725 between Crossbaskets and Whirlies Roundabout will take place from Friday 24 July to Wednesday 29 July and a series of traffic management measures and diversions will be in place. Gordon Wilson, contract director, Scotland TranServ said:

“We are making every effort to minimise disruption to road users and delays are expected to be minimal however I would urge motorists to leave plenty of time for their journeys and check the Traffic Scotland website and Twitter feed for real time traffic information.”

“Advanced warning signs will be positioned on the approach to the works to inform road users that the works are taking place.”

Traffic Management and Diversions

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evening from 2000hrs to 0600hrs One lane on the north and southbound carriageway will be closed between Whirlies / Mavor and Crossbaskets.

Thursday and Sunday from 2000hrs to 0600hrs A total closure of the northbound carriageway between Whirlies / Mavor and Crossbaskets will be in operation and a diversion will be in place however delays will be expected. (A725 NB traffic follow A749 SB – A725 SB – A726 SB – Commercial Rd EB – A723 Hamilton Rd NB – A724 WB – Rejoin A725 at Glasgow Rd Jct)

Friday from 2300hrs to Sunday 2300hrs A Contraflow will be in place on the northbound carriageway. There will also be a total closure of the A725 northbound on from Mavor were traffic will follow A749 SB to join A725 northbound at Whirlies Roundabout. A total closure of A725 southbound to Whirlies were traffic will follow the A725 to Mavor – A749 SB – Whirlies Rbt

Monday to Wednesday 2000-0600hrs A total closure of the A725 Whirlies southbound spur will be in place from traffic will follow the A725 to Mavor – A749 SB – Whirlies Roundabout.

M8 MAINTENANCE WORKS TO BEGIN

Essential maintenance work is set to begin on the M8 between Junctions 26 (Renfrew) and 27 (Hillington) on Monday 20 July 2015.

Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland will carry out the £220k resurfacing works which will benefit road users who travel on this section of the M8 each day.

The programme of works will last for four nights, with a total closure of the M8 westbound in place each night from 8.00pm until 6.00am. On the Monday night eastbound traffic will travel on the hard shoulder only and Wednesday night only lane three of the M8 eastbound will be in operation.

Diversion:
Motorists should leave the M8 on the J26 offslip and travel on the A736 northbound, A8 westbound, Paisley Road southbound and Renfrew Road before rejoining the M8 westbound at J27.

A701 Shieldhill to Blairhall Road

Road users are set to benefit from £415K of resurfacing works on the A701 from Shieldhill to Blairhall Road (located approximately 5 miles north of Dumfries), taking the investment from Transport Scotland in Dumfries and Galloway in the past 12 months to over £4.5 million.

Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland will resurface almost 1km of carriageway from 7pm on Sunday 26 July to 6am Friday 7 August; benefiting motorists who use this route each day.

To protect the health and safety of road users and roadworkers alike a convoy system will be in operation overnight with two way traffic lights in operation during day time hours.

*There will be no works or Traffic Management in place on Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August.

A78 Improvement Works

Scotland TranServ on behalf of Transport Scotland will carry out road improvement works on the A78 in both directions between Eglinton Interchange and Pennyburn Roundabout.

The £334,000 investment from Transport Scotland will benefit drivers using the route every day, delivering a smoother, quieter journey as they travel along this section of the A78.

To keep road users and roadworkers safe, traffic management will be in place and consist of a contraflow system between Eglinton Interchange and Pennyburn roundabout with the A78 westbound on-slip from Eglinton Interchange Roundabout closed. The roadworks will be in operation from 8.00pm on Friday 17 July to 6.00am on Monday 20 July.

“This programme of work will improve over 1 kilometre of carriageway for the travelling public on the A78 between Eglinton Interchange to Pennyburn Roundabout. While there will be some short-term disruption for commuters, the benefits of a smoother, quieter road surface will certainly be felt for the long term.”

A diversion for Eglinton onslip traffic will be diverted back along the A78 to Warrix interchange to return westbound.

A75 Marchfield to Edinburgh Road Resurfacing Works

The project adds to the £4m that has already been invested by Transport Scotland across Dumfries and Galloway’s trunk road network over the last 12 months. Scotland TranServ will carry out the work over one weekend between Friday 10 July to Monday 13 July 2015. To keep road users and roadworkers safe, a total closure will be implemented in both directions between Edinburgh Road Roundabout & Lockerbie Road Roundabout and will be in place throughout the works. The road will be closed from 7.00pm on Friday evening and reopen at 6.00am on Monday morning. Gordon Wilson, contract director, Scotland TranServ said:
